Tennis Ladder Rules
ANTHEM AT MERRILL RANCH - TENNIS LADDER RULES
1. Ladder break-in period (first 2 weeks) for newly added players: Any player
may challenge players above them on their own level or any player in the next
level group above. This will correct any level adjustments that need to be
made. After the 2nd week, challengers may only challenge a player 1 or 2
positions above them.
2. Player being challenged must play the challenge match within 1 week of being
notified by email or phone by the challenger (Please Cc Tennis Ladder
Administrator of challenge match to begin 1 week countdown). If Upper Player's
schedule does not allow for a match within 1 week, he/she forfeits the match
and loses his position to Challenger. [CAUTION to Challenger: Don’t abuse this
time limitation. Challenger must be available at least 4 days out of the week
that a challenge is made]. Upper Player, if you know you cannot play the match
within 1 week, please simply forfeit right away and avoid the headaches of
dispute unless you and the challenger
both agree to an extension to play the challenge match.
3. Play best of three sets, with 12-point tiebreaker if necessary (first to 7
points by a 2 point margin).
4. Each player brings a new can of balls to the match. The winner gets the new
unopened can.
5. If Challenger wins, they take that position on the ladder; everyone else
moves down one position. If Challenger loses, nothing changes.
6. WINNER is responsible for sending Ladder Administrator an Email including
the following information: opponent played, match score, and date & time...
within 24 hours of the match being played. This will keep the ladder current,
as there may be multiple matches per day.
7. When at the bottom of any ladder level, any match won by the challenger will
result in the upper player dropping down a level and the challenger moving up a
level (if Joe is at the top of the 3.5 level and beats Dave who's at the bottom
of the 4.0 level, they will trade places in the ladder).
8. A match played may not be re-challenged immediately. (If # 3 challenges and
plays # 2, regardless of the outcome, these two players may not re-challenge
one another without at least one of them playing a challenge match with a
different player ... or a week's time has passed.) This will prevent one player
from "hounding" another ... and promote match variety.
9. Ladder results will be posted on a weekly basis.
NOTE: The first ladder will include both women and men of all ages in the same
ladder. As the ladder grows in size, a separate Men and Women’s ladder will be
formed. So...ladies get ready to take on the guys...it'll be a great time for
all.
