by the Florence Copper Project (HDI Curis) with great
questions and concerns about the project. There are a couple more key
dates
coming up that are important to the general plan amendment process that
the Florence

Services Offered:
Fitness Assessments . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $5
♦ Heart Rate & Blood Pressure – are commonly used to determine if there are any underlying health issues which need to be addressed prior to starting an exercise program. Knowledge of such information allows you to maintain an optimum level of health and safety throughout your program.
♦ Body Circumference – is a crucial factor in determining your general health and benchmarking your fitness progress. It is common for certain areas of the body to have varying levels of body fat. There are however, some areas where you do not want this fatty build up, due to the increased risk for heart disease it brings with it.
♦ Body Composition – this includes measuring current height/weight and completing a 3-site skinfold test. The information derived from the aforementioned tests allows our staff to calculate your Body Mass Index, as well as, your Total Body Fat Percentage.

Complete Fitness Testing . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .$25
♦ Cardiovascular - cardiovascular health is determined by calculating a resting heart rate, resting blood pressure, as well as an exercising heart rate in order to determine aerobic capacity, which will be measured using a 3-minute step or one-mile walk test. This information will help determine your progress as well as a starting point for your cardiovascular training.
♦ Flexibility – the range of motion of the lower back and hamstrings will be measured using the modified sit-and-reach test. This information will be used in accordance with the postural assessment in order to determine muscular imbalances as well as to track progress. Together, we create a program that will improve quality of life through reduction of muscle tension and pain.
♦ Muscular Endurance – will be measured using a standardized chest press and/ or abdominal curl-up activity. This will give direction in creating a personalized strength training program and allow us to track progress.
♦ Muscular Strength – will be determined using a standardized Estimated One Repetition Max Chest Press and Estimated One Repetition Max Leg Press. The results from each of these will give us good indication of overall upper and lower body strength.

Fitness Tracking . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $75
Fitness Tracking is a program originally developed for implementation at the Sun City Anthem at Merrill Ranch Union Center; however, after seeing the affects and program popularity, we have decided to introduce it to Anthem Parkside at Merrill Ranch as well. As we transition the program over to Anthem Parkside some aspects will change to address some areas needing improvement. Fitness Tracking at Anthem Parkside is a comprehensive six-month program that enables the residents to create a series of goals and then work diligently, with some help, to achieve them. Included in fitness tracking is:
♦ Personalized Training Program (non-supervised) – will be designed to address specific needs as outlined by the member. Whether that goal be hiking the Grand Canyon in six months, easing back pain or simply being able to participate in more physical activities with the kids, this personalized training program will be molded to fit each participant’s unique personality and style of training.
♦ Health & Fitness Assessments – each participant will receive one free health and fitness assessment at the start of the program. They will have the option to purchase an additional combo assessment at the end of the program for a reduced rate. The use of these tools will allow us to more accurately track training progression and health gains. This will be the means for benchmarking and continuing to work towards the ultimate goal; whatever that might be.
♦ Monthly Program Revisions – Each month participating residents simply need to stop by the Fitness Director or Coordinator’s office and set up a revision appointment. In this 15 minute appointment the resident will provide feedback about their program, as well as, answer any questions the Director/Coordinator has. An updated program will then be created and printed off for the resident allowing for optimization of time spent in the fitness facility.

Anyone who has tried dieting knows it’s not as easy as the fad diets make it out to be. All too often our lifestyles get in the way of the crazy things those diets ask us to do like cutting carbs, counting points or maybe even eating those disgusting cookies suggested by that one diet. ♦ General Nutritional Knowledge - will be given to the resident. It is important to know the basic themes behind good nutrition and how those themes affect your health.
♦ Tips for Healthier Shopping - it is crucial to understand what nutritional variables you should be examining when browsing the local grocery store. Tips that can help your shopping will make it easier to maintain a healthy diet program.
♦ Tips for Healthier Restaurant Eating – how can we possible know if what a restaurant calls low-carb is actually low-carb? Therefore, we will also provide you with tips designed to make eating out a little healthier.
♦ Nutritional Log – a daily log will also be provided so that you may track your daily caloric intake. Along with this log we will provide you with some public domain web addresses that can be used to calculate your caloric intake vs. caloric output.
