Fitness Tracking . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $75Fitness Tracking is a program developed for sole implementation at the Sun City Anthem at Merrill Ranch Union Center . It is a comprehensive six-month program that enables our members to create a series of goals and then work diligently, with our help, to achieve them. Included in fitness tracking is:
Personalized Training Program (non-supervised) – will be designed to address specific needs as outlined by the member. Whether that goal be hiking the Grand Canyon in six months or simply being able to throw a baseball with the grandchildren, this personalized training program will be molded to fit each participant’s unique personality and style of training.
Health & Fitness Assessments – each participant will receive two free health and fitness assessments. The use of these tools will allow us to more accurately track training progression and health gains. This will be the means for benchmarking and continuing to work towards the ultimate goal; whatever that might be.
Monthly Program Revisions – Based on the information provided to us by the resident, as well as the resident’s vitals, the training program may be altered to either increase or decrease its intensity to better serve the needs of the participant. This will allow for optimization of time spent in the fitness facility.
Health Assessments . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .$5
Heart Rate & Blood Pressure – are commonly used to determine if there are any underlying health issues which need to be addressed prior to starting an exercise program. Knowledge of such information allows you to maintain an optimum level of health and safety throughout your program.
Body Circumference – is a crucial factor in determining your general health and benchmarking your fitness progress. It is common for certain areas of the body to have varying levels of body fat. There are however, some areas where you do not want this fatty build up, due to the increased risk for heart disease it brings with it.
Body Composition – this includes measuring current height/weight and completing a 3-site skinfold test. The information derived from the aforementioned tests allows our staff to calculate your Body Mass Index, as well as, your Total Body Fat Percentage.

Fitness Assessments . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $5
Flexibility – the range of motion of the lower back and hamstrings will be measured using the modified sit-and-reach test. This information will be used in accordance with the postural assessment in order to determine muscular imbalances as well as to track progress. Together, we create a program that will improve quality of life through reduction of muscle tension and pain.
Muscular Endurance – will be measured using a standardized chest press and/ or abdominal curl-up activity. This will give direction in creating a personalized strength training program and allow us to track progress.
Muscular Strength – will be determined using a standardized One Repetition Max Chest Press and One Repetition Max Leg Press. The results from each of these will give us good indication of overall upper and lower body strength.
Cardiovascular - cardiovascular health is determined by calculating a resting heart rate, resting blood pressure, as well as an exercising heart rate in order to determine aerobic capacity, which will be measured using a 3-minute step or one-mile walk test. This information will help determine your progress as well as a starting point for your cardiovascular training.
